Members of the community have been reminded by councillors in Tenby of a helpful bus service in place to help them travel around the area.
Since the demise of the popular Tenby town bus service following the loss of the Silcox bus company, councillors have heard that elderly locals who relied on this service for their transportation to and from town, have struggled to get around as much.
Information on the Green Dragon Bus dial-a-ride service was again brought to the table at a meeting of the town council on Tuesday night.
The service, free with a concessionary travel pass (or pay a fare if you haven’t got a pass), runs on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 10.30 am to 2.30 pm, and from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm, on a Friday, with journey bookings to be made by 12 noon on the day before by calling freephone number 0800 783 1584.
Pick-ups are made from people’s doors at agreed times, and the vehicles are wheelchair accessible.
There is no set route or timetable, and as well as Tenby, the service covers - Saundersfoot, New Hedges, Penally, Gumfreston, Wooden, Pentlepoir, Kilgetty and Begelly.
“Hopefully this information will make people more aware of the service,” commented Clr. Trevor Hallett.
Flyers for the scheme can be found in the foyer of the town council offices at the De Valence.
