Monday, June 23, marked the beginning of Tidy Wales Week in Pembroke with a clean-up at Devon Drive. Local residents and members of Pembroke North Community Association along with the local PCSO filled a skip and collected items from children's toys to mattresses along with a very large gas cylinder. The woodland at Devon Drive has been blighted by years of fly-tipping and heavy littering, but local residents demonstrated their commitment to restore the area to its former glory by getting their hands dirty. The clean-up was organised by Keep Wales Tidy and Peter Howe from Pembrokeshire County Council and was supported by Clr. Arwyn Williams. Through the Tidy Towns project, members of the association hope to continue the work that has been started and transform the woodland into an asset for the local community. Tidy Towns is a partnership between Keep Wales Tidy and local authorities and is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government.
