The Pembrokeshire 50+ Forum is challenging someone from the local community to come up with a logo for them - and win a £50 cash prize. Local 50+ forums were established in Pembrokeshire during 2004, as part of the local delivery of the Welsh Assembly Government's 'Strategy for Older People in Wales'. The purpose of the forums is to expand consultation and involvement with the growing number of older people in Pembrokeshire, as well as providing a focus for the broad range of issues concerning them. The 'central' Pembrokeshire Forum, which is made up of delegates from local forums, has recently formed a constitution. Pembrokeshire Forum members are keen to have a logo developed which reflects its role of involving older people in decisions that affect their lives. Logo designs will need to project the positive role that older people can play in the local community. The 50+ Forum is hoping that the winning logo will become its emblem to be used on its letterhead, newsletter and section of the Pembrokeshire County Council website, which are provided by Pembrokeshire County Council's marketing and communication team. The winner will be invited to accept their prize at the Forum's fifth Annual Conference, which takes place at the Pavilion, Withybush Showground, on Friday, March 14, where the winning design will also be unveiled. This year's conference is on the theme of 'dignity and respect' and will include presentations by Dr. Win Tadd, of Cardiff University, and Simon Boex, Welsh Assembly Government, as well as staff from Pembrokeshire and Derwen NHS Trust and Pembrokeshire County Council. There are several entry conditions. For details, please see Pembrokeshire County Council's website http://www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/50plus">www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/50plus Completed entries should be sent to: Ann Edmunds, Older Person's Strategy Co-ordinator, Pembrokeshire County Council, County Hall, Haverfordwest.
