Tenby’s newly installed Deputy Mayor has hit back at recent criticism the town council has faced on social media.
Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown made her comments at Friday’s Mayor-making ceremony held at the Mayor’s Parlour, when seconding the proposal for Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane to don the scarlet robes of office once again, to be the Mayor of Tenby for a ninth term.
“Even though in my opinion, we all work hard as councillors, over the past year or so there has been negativity about Tenby Town Council and our Mayor, particularly on social media - or should I say anti-social media!” remarked Clr. Mrs. Brown.
“We as councillors give our time and effort freely to hopefully ensure that the local community and tourists, our main bread and butter, enjoy the Tenby experience.
“Everyone is entitled to constructively criticise us and the way we democratically make our decisions but the abuse sometimes gets too much. If the public have a comment to make then don’t use Facebook, come in and talk to us, we are always available, especially Clr. Mrs. Lane,” she added.
