After expressing concerns with the local authority about recent housing allocations in Narberth, the town's county councillor, Wynne Evans, was delighted this week to learn of the Welsh Assembly's new initiative for housing for local people launched. "Under this new system, the local authorities would be given guidance to calculate how much affordable housing they should provide," explained Clr. Evans. "They will then also have special provision for rural exception sites, so only local people can move into this zone," he continued. "I certainly welcome this, as I believe, at all times, local people should come first for housing requirements. "The plans are subject to further consultation before being approved, but I feel this is a step in the right direction to address our needs for people," he added.
