Mr. Ron Hopkins greeted members of the church and visitors at the door on Sunday. Mrs. Carol Widd gave a cheery welcome to all and opened the morning service with family news and a prayer. Several regular church members were absent, having spent the week at Spring Harvest, and so it was especially good to have many visitors to the church to swell the congregation. The music group, under Sal's leadership and with Mrs. Ann Pattenden on the keyboard, provided some lovely harmonies to the familiar choruses. We greatly appreciate the time the group spends in practice during the week to enhance the morning worship. The children left the service at this point, for their Sunday School in the vestry of the church. During open prayer time, which was led by Mr. Bryn Rees, a special prayer was said for the soul of Mr. Bazyli Gryckeiwicz, recently departed, and for the comfort of his widow Janice. Another prayer thanked God for the contribution made to Christianity by the life of Pope John Paul II. Pastor Tom Torok preaching, first read from Matthew Ch. 12 v.17-21 to illustrate how the prophesy of Isaiah Ch. 42 v.1-7 is fulfilled in Jesus. In this beautiful 'Servant Song', Isaiah is acting as God's mouthpiece for the future. God, the creator of the universe, who is the Alpha and Omega, knows the beginning and the end for mankind. His special creation. He knows when Christ will come again to call His own to Him, to share in life eternal. Speaker at this Sunday's morning service at 10.45 am will be Mr. Nick Sutton, while on Thursday morning, from 7.30 - 8.30 am, there will be a prayer meeting followed by breakfast. All are welcome. This is held in the vestry hall at the rear of the church. A reminder is also given that a BMS ladies meeting will be held in the church on April 28 at 2.30 pm, followed by tea in the vestry hall.
