Visitors and friends were welcomed at the start of the service by the church secretary. One of the visitors was now living in Australia, although he was originally born in Wales. The worship time was led by Mrs. Sally Lloyd and the prayer time by Mr. Gerald Duffett.  The guest preacher was the Rev. John Potter. John choose as the basis for address familiar words from the book of Hebrews, 'Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.' John mentioned that until relatively recently he did quite a lot of running around the town and he compared this with the Christian race, the need for steady progress, not sprinting, or going around in circles. An athlete benefits from encouragement, so does the Christian, he emphasised the need to travel light even sometimes putting aside legitimate pleasures and friends.   We need always to keep before us the example of Jesus, in whom we can trust in all circumstances of life. On Tuesday, there will be a table top sale and coffee morning in the church hall in aid of an orphanage in Uganda.
