The third Sunday in advent is when we celebrate Joy; this was reflected in all aspects of Sunday's service, from the initial welcome given to friends by Mrs. Scilla Howard to the final blessing.
Before lighting the third candle, Mrs. Gerald Duffett read from the OT book of Micah where a promised ruler from Bethlehem would come.
The words of the carols throughout were displayed on the projector, accompanied by moving Christmas scenes, by Mr. David Kinnard.
Mr. Chris Llewellyn led the service, initially reading verse 6 from the prophet Isaiah where the attributes of the life of Jesus are described.
Among them were 'Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace'.
We remember Jesus as the 'Gift' given to everyone who will receive Him. May we unpack this 'Gift', and discern its significance this Christmas season.
The parent-toddler group will not now meet until the new year.
