On a sunny, but cold morning, Mrs. Jeanne Grimes gave a welcome to visitors and friends on entering the church. Mrs. Helen Hills introduced the service, while music accompanists for the worship were Tessa Ovenden, Ann Pattenden, Barbara Willcox and Frank Howard.
The situation in Gaza and the new President of the United States were among the items mentioned during the open prayer time.
Helen introduced Mr. and Mrs. Phil Vickery, who were visiting from Broad Haven Baptist Church. Maggie read from Exodus, telling of the start of the journey of the Israelites into the Promised Land.
Phil, in his sermon, used the picture of the pillars of cold and fire, the manner in which God led the Israelites, to illustrate how God leads individuals and his church today.
Among the ways are guidance from the Holy Spirit, we need to learn to listen, and the written word from God. In the body of the church, we have people equipped to hear from God. We need to know the way God tells us now, for ourselves and the body of Christ, to journey into the future.
