In contrast to the previous Sunday, there was a distinct chill in the air, which necessitated the heating system to be used for the first time for many months.

Mrs. Jeanne Grimes welcomed visitors on entering the church, one of whom had come from Alabama. The church secretary gave the family news and led the prayer time.

Barbara, Nan, Tessa and Frank were in charge of the worship time, which included some older hymns which hadn't been sung for quite a time.

Mr. Frank Howard was the guest speaker for the day and, using a reading from the letter of Peter, focused our minds on the coming of Christ. He reminded us that the coming of Christ was a fact of history, and the Christian faith includes the teaching that Christ will come again at the end of time.

He challenged his listeners by stating that Christians should allow Christ to 'come into their lives' each day to clear out any 'rubbish' which pollutes their walk with God.

The Parent Toddler group meets on Thursday mornings.

This Sunday will be Harvest Sunday, with a Harvest Supper to be held on the following Tuesday. Everyone welcome. Please let the secretary know if you wish to attend the supper by 'phoning 01834 843392.
