Visitors from as far afield as Lancaster in the north and Lowestoft in the east were greeted by Mr. Garry Emlyn at the door to join in uplifting worship that was matched by the weather! Mrs. Phyllis Duffett welcomed everyone and during family news included information of weekly meetings. Mrs. Trina Sutton led the worship and played the keyboard to accompany the hymns and choruses. Mr. Bryn Sutton and his sister Miss Grace Sutton briefly described an orphanage they intend to visit in Belarus, along with other young people. They showed pictures of the improvements already made and outlined what they hope to achieve there next month. Mrs. Helen Hills led the time of open prayer and highlighted items for prayerful petition and intercession, either audibly or silently. After reading onwards from Matthew, Chapter 6, verse 5, members prayed the Lord's prayer. Mr. Billy Evans ministered by reading First Epistle of John, Chapter 4 and based his sermon on verse 8, 'God is love'. Making several cross-references and also introducing humour, he ended on the serious note of verse 21 which states: 'Whoever loves God must also love his brother'. After the service, Mrs. Ann Pattenden provided free refreshments. These were augmented by some provided by Mrs. Eirion Kinnard in aid of Open Doors Missionary work. Also filleted mackerel was offered for aiding the funds of an orphanage in Uganda. The preacher this Sunday is Rev. Peter Richmond, a former pastor of this church.
