Last Sunday, what is traditionally known as Pentecost Sunday was celebrated. It is the occasion recorded in the New Testament when the Holy Spirit came in power to the early Christians. An occasion of joy, and enthusiasm for the young church in Jerusalem. This was reflected in Deer Park's own service, despite the atrocious weather, when a very lively worship time, led by Mr. Keith Evans, was followed by a more contemplative time in prayer, led by Mrs. Nan Dowell, and the partaking of Holy Communion. The thoughtful sermon was given by Mr. Ken Wilson from Fishguard. He reminded the congregation that it is human nature to look for the less demanding attitudes in the life of faith, yet it is the work of the Holy Spirit in the believer to seek after the harder challenging principles given by our Lord.
