The secretary of the church, in his welcome to all who had come to church, said that one of the prime reasons for attendance was worship. This was reflected in the hymns, songs and readings that followed.  After celebrating by participating in the communion service, the visiting preacher, Mr. Eddy Woolford from Pembroke, took the story of the 'raising from the dead' of Lazarus, found in John's Gospel. He applied it to present day situations where in family crises, the presence of Christ is hard to find. Often in our humanity we are unable to see a solution. The congregation was reminded that Paul wrote to the church in Rome, 'What if some did not have faith? Will their lack of faith nullify God's faithfulness? Not at all!' Members were encouraged to follow Jesus and trust Him. The same Holy Spirit who 'raised Lazarus from the dead' is ever present today and we often need patience and wait for our prayers to be answered.
