However many times we read the same part of the Bible, its non-human co-author can bring something new to our attention. It is as though the Holy Spirit 'highlights' certain verses we had not noticed were there.

Rev. Ifor Williams, pastor of Broad Haven Baptist Church and our area superintendent was the preacher at the morning service. He focused attention on a command by the Risen Lord Jesus Christ in Acts chapter 1, verses 4 and 5. The apostles were told to stay where they were until they had been baptised in the Holy Spirit.

Quoting Ephesians chapter 5, verse 18, Ifor contrasted drunkenness with the state of a Christian being continuously filled with the Holy Spirit.

Morning worship included the welcoming of several visitors by Mrs. Carol Ansell as door steward. Inside, Mr. Bryn Rees (church deacon) opened the service by reading Psalm 103 before a prayer. Mrs. Phyllis Duffett (church deacon) conducted Family News during which detailed information of a Bank Holiday event for young people was given; various new magazines were brought to the attention of the congregation as well as copies of the agenda for the church annual general meeting; early morning prayer meeting and forward notice of Mr. John Blanchard's visit to speak on 'Does God believe in atheists?' at 7.30 pm on Friday, June 22, in the Theatre Block of the Sixth Form at Greenhill School, Tenby.

Mrs. Ann Pattenden played the clavinova keyboard and among others, was accompanied by Mr. Arran Torok on the drums.

Aptly, one of the highlights during the service was a song 'Let me be a shining light for you' presented by many visiting friends from Ebenezer Evangelical Church Mission Hall, which is situated at Nechells - close to the world-famous motorway inter-change nicknamed 'Spaghetti Junction'.

Pastor Tom Torok warmly welcomed Rev. Peter Richmond, who is the pastor of Hesed Christian Fellowship that meets in the New Hedges Village Hall and a former pastor of Deer Park Baptist Church, as the preacher at the evening service of worship. Peter's text was Genesis chapter 9, verse 16. The rainbow is a permanently valid sign of God's eternal covenant never to flood the whole earth as actually happened during Noah's life-time. Peter reminded us that until Noah's flood, rain had not been 'invented'.

Mr. Patrick Ovenden played the pianoforte, Mr. Arran Torok was drummer and Mrs. Lynda Richmond was flautist. Their combined efforts greatly spurred the large congregation drawn from both fellowships associated with Peter's continuing ministry in this area. Hymns, drawn mainly from the Baptist hymnbook, were sung with gusto.

As a special treat, after the benediction, worshippers were served refreshments, which included chocolate biscuits.

Anyone wanting details about the Youth Club or Bible Study Groups is invited to ring Tom Torok on Tenby 845838.

This Sunday, pastor Tom Torok will, God willing, preach at 10.45 am and there will be no evening service owing to the Combined Pentecost Service at the harbour at 7.30 pm. All are most welcome to attend.
