IN May 1943 there was a crisis at Stepaside Methodist Chapel.
The choir had been practising for the Sunday School znniversary, accompanied by Mrs. Rene John, chapel organist.
Unfortunately, she was called away because her soldier husband was very ill.
Literally at the last moment, Mrs. Dilys Williams (pictured) stepped into the breach and has continued to be chapel organist to this day, completing 70 years unbroken service.
This dedication was acknowledged at the recent songs of praise when she was presented with a commemorative certificate and a personal gift of an unique quillo.
