Tenby councillors have deferred making a decision on a planning application in the town so that they can receive further information from the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and the highways department of the Pembrokeshire County Council on various aspects of the proposal.
An application from TCW Property Partnership to convert a property at 46 High Street to provide six holiday units with undercroft parking came before members of the town council at their meeting on Tuesday night.
However, they raised concerns with parts of the scheme, as the rear of the premises also leads onto Crackwell Street overlooking the harbour.
"The whole thing appears to be over-development on such a narrow street and the parking aspect I think will cause a very big problem, with cars finding it difficult to manoeuvre in and out," said Clr. Mrs. Trisha Putwain.
"The design looks nice, but I don't think it's practical and could cause endless trouble," she added.
Clr. Mrs. Sandra Williams also wanted to seek advice on whether the scheme would inflict upon historical aspects of the premises which is situated adjacent to the building known as Belle Vue Court, a period built Georgian townhouse.
Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Julie Evans, felt that it would be wise to seek advice from the National Park Authority and the highways department of the county council and hold a possible site meeting before making a decision, with councillors agreeing to defer the matter.
