TENBY-based band The Afternoons play the Queen's Hall in Narberth tonight (Friday), their first in a series of dates to promote the release of their debut album, The Days We Found in the Sun, on September 25.
Produced by Greg Haver, whose credits include Catatonia and The Manic Street Preachers, the album includes the band's previous single Falling is Easy, which reached number 18 in the independent chart, garnering favourable reviews in the NME and Select magazine.
The album release is the culmination of a busy year for the band which has included Radio 1 and XFM sessions, TV work (watch out for a forthcoming appearance on S4C's Y Session Hwyr) and a number of high-profile festival gigs, including the Big Cheese event at Caerphilly Castle and the Miri Madog festival in North Wales.
In October, a five track ep, A Change in Season, is released, three tracks of which were recorded at Winderton Studios, New Hedges, with local musician Bruce Campbell. Also in October the band will be performing with the Divine Comedy at the Radio 2 festival in Cardiff.
The Days We Found in the Sun will be available in record shops from Monday, September 24. It can also be ordered from Rough Trade (tel: 020 7792 3490 or email: http://www.roughtrade.com">www.roughtrade.com).
