Sir,

After seeing, and hearing, Tenby pilloried on national television this week, will it have finally dawned on the money grabbing element of the town's traders, that they have sounded the death-knell for Tenby as a family resort, and by doing so, have metaphorically cut their own financial throats, because by their pandering to the yobbish louts that are 'only out for a good time' they have ensured that no-one who has a shred of decency will ever want to come here, and expose their family to the atmosphere that these so-called 'party animals' generate.

In the future, if Tenby doesn't clean up its act, and its streets, it will be totally devoid of tourists of any type, as no-one will come here at all, despite the natural beauty of the area, as no-one wants to be in contact with what was portrayed and implied, on the News this week.

I am not a doom-laden old fuddy-duddy, I too can enjoy a night out, but, and that is a big but, can I still do so in Tenby? And the immediate answer has to be no, because I don't like being exposed to gangs of silly screaming girls, who are not out so much for a good time, as they are to make a spectacle of themselves, or worse, groups of sullen rowdy lads whose idea of a good time is to become as drunk as possible, as quickly as possible and cause mayhem, admittedly sometimes good-natured, but mayhem nonetheless.

No-one with a young family wants them exposed to this type of behaviour, and before someone says that young children should be in bed at that time of night, the fact remains that when on holiday with no babysitter, children are taken along as a matter of course and with silly stag and hen nights starting earlier and earlier, they are bound to come into contact with things no child should.

This is not the way to attract the tourists of the future, and I hope that the money-grabbers will take note before their concern for the immediate 'quick buck' removes the possibility of a living for everyone and Tenby becomes a geriatric ghost town.

Just to set the record straight as to my involvement, well I have none except that of a concerned citizen, who hates what is happening to her lovely town.

Mrs. L. D. Rees,

46 Newell Hill,

Tenby.
