This year's Pembroke Dock Bowling Club Open Week, well organised by Mr. Graham Bann and Mr. David Burns, was blessed with good weather, which was enjoyed by all bowlers and spectators alike.

Pembroke Dock once again excelled with their tournament, with not only its wonderful hospitality, but with its catering, which is second to none within the bowling fraternity.

This was the 64th consecutive open week held, with the first open week commencing in June 1945. The two main cups are the 'Alfred Phillips Bowl' and the 'Sudbury Bowl'. The Texaco/Chevron Shield is played for by competitors who are eliminated from the main events in the early rounds.

There was some exceptional bowling from the entrants, especially Paul Diment, of Tenby Bowling Club, who graced the PDBC green with his wonderful skill and expertise, winning both of the main cups.

All the entrants thought the green ran superbly, thanks to the sterling work carried out by the green staff who work so hard to make the open week such a success.

The presentation of cups was carried out by Mr. Phil Thompson, of Chevron, who are main sponsors for the Texaco/Chevron Shield.

In the final of the Alfred Phillips Bowl, Paul Diment, of Tenby BC, beat Tudor Harris, of Pembroke Dock BC, 21-7.

In the final of the Sudbury Bowl, Paul Diment, of Tenby BC, beat Ken Edwards, of Pembroke Dock BC, 21-8.

In the final of the Texaco/Chevron Shield, Richard Hissey, of Pembroke Dock BC, beat Bob Taylor, of Pembroke Dock BC, 21-9.

After the presentations of the cups, a sit-down buffet and raffle was held in the clubhouse, with a grand total of 82 raffle prizes (passing last year's total of 67 prizes) all donated by various club members and non members of Pembroke Dock Bowling Club.
