YOUNG sports fan, nine-year-old Evan Sheldon was recently immensely proud and pleased to be selected as the national team mascot for the Wales v Argentina rugby international at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff.

Evan was delighted to have this opportunity as he is a huge rugby supporter. He enjoys watching Wales, the Ospreys and Scarlets, and plays for Pembroke Under 10s, as well as for his school (St. Florence). In fact, he enjoys most sports, including cricket, golf and surfing at Fresh water West.

Evan was also able to bring five members of his family to the match. His dad David was able to stand with the players, while his mum Lisa, sister Libby, brother Yori and nanny Vanessa were in the stand watching, and they were all very proud of him.

Thanks to the WRU, Evan was also thrilled to be presented with a full Welsh rugby kit and, after enjoying refreshments, was able to meet the whole team and talk to some amazing rugby players, both past and present.

It was certainly a day he will never forget.
