Walking a marathon is tough enough without having to get up before the crack of dawn to start it. Early bird walkers from this area welcomed a new day and so far have raised more than £12,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support as a result of this year's Pembrokeshire Dawn Walk. Seventy-two walkers pulled on their boots and trekked from Withybush Hospital to Cresselly Cricket Club for the fourth Pembrokeshire Dawn Walk. The charity has helped resurrect the walk with the enthusiastic help of the original founders of this popular event, which started in 2004. This year it was sponsored by Chevron, and many other local businesses offered their generous support. Walkers set off at 6 am and some even crossed the finishing line in time for lunch. Kathryn Morgan, Macmillan Cancer Support's fund- raising manager for West Wales, said: "It is a beautiful walk and despite the distance our walkers only suffered a few blisters and one sore hip. It was a fantastic day and many of those who took part are already thinking about next year, so we are hoping to double the numbers.  Thank you to everyone who supported us." Kathryn added: "If 26 or even 13 miles sounds too much, you can always consider brewing up a cuppa or two for our World's Biggest Coffee Morning. It is held in September and you can register you, your friends or company on line at http://www.macmillan.org.uk.&quot">www.macmillan.org.uk."
