The second annual 'Pembrokeshire Dawn Walk' took place on May 15 and yet again it was a huge success. Starting at 6 am from Withybush Hospital, 150 entrants took part altogether, over half walking the full 26 miles via a picturesque route along back roads and lanes to eventually end up at Cresselly Cricket Club.  At the halfway point in Loveston, a number of the entrants joined in at 9 am to walk the 13 miles for a 'half marathon'. Again the support, planning and effort that went into creating a very special day were overwhelming. A very big thank you goes out to the main sponsors, Princes Gate Water, Oakwood and Texaco, and all of the many sponsors and contributors, without whom the walk could not happen.  There were eight manned stations along the route with 'Bakeaway' flapjacks, 'Wisebuys' fruit, filled rolls and the much needed bottles of Princes Gate Water.  A massive support team of marshals made it a very fun and safe day.  The party at Cresselly Cricket Club had a carnival atmosphere with a Pimm's Marquee, bouncy castle and BBQ, the meat being kindly donated by Upton Farm, Yerbeston Farm Shop, Paul Heywood and Andrew Rees. Tired legs and feet were put into cold water and had a free massage The grand total raised is in excess of £25,000. This has already overtaken last year's contribution of £19,450 to 'Withybush Cancer Services. The majority of the money in 2004 bought a new scanning machine which can immediately detect whether a lump is malignant or not. There are already plans for a walk in May 2006, so please see the website at http://www.dawnwalk.org.uk">www.dawnwalk.org.uk.
