Tavernspite Out of School Club are holding a fund-raising event on November 17, at Carew Karting, when one of its members, nine-year-old Daniel Pike, will be going around the track on his go-kart. People will have to guess how many laps and metres he will do on half-a-litre of fuel.
There will be officials there on the day to see fair play and to make sure everything is done correctly.
The first prize has kindly been donated by Mr. K. P. Thomas, of Templeton, which is 200 litres of heating fuel, and there are various other prizes.
"We are looking for more sponsors and raffle prizes, and help before and on the day," said a spokesperson. "We are raising this money to keep the club open and to buy more equipment."

Also, on December 7, the club is holding a coffee morning with Santa's Grotto, cake stalls and a raffle at the Victorian School in Stepaside. The use of the school has kindly been given free of charge by Mr. and Mrs. Norman, for which the club is very grateful.
