A town councillor has agreed with a Pembrokeshire resident who thinks that some of the cobbled streets in Tenby are dangerous and need looking at.

A letter written by Mrs. Maureen Griffiths, of Cresselly, to Pembrokeshire County Council's director of highways and transportation, Mr. Ian Westley, came before members of the town council at their meeting on Tuesday night.

In the correspondence, Mrs. Griffiths said that she had suffered a fall in St. George's Street during the summer after tripping on the "uneven, cobbled surface" and falling heavily against a drainage grating, sustaining considerable bruising to her head, arm, knee-caps and finger.

"I strongly believe that some urgent action needs to be taken to prevent future accidents of a similar nature," she wrote.

Responding to the letter, Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas told her fellow members that it was about time that the county council looked at improving all the cobbled streets in Tenby and not just that area.

"Some parts where the cobbles have separated now also leave large puddles too. I think that they need to be made a bit safer in all the streets throughout the town," she said.
