Dairy farmers are being invited to attend an open day looking at 'recruiting, understanding and motivating staff', organised by the Farming Connect Dairy Development Centre.
The event will be held at Clarbeston Grange, on Friday October 24, at 12.30 pm, and will be hosted by Nigel James, with Hannah Foulton, a recruitment consultant in New Zealand, as the champion for the day.
Staffing management factors will be discussed, followed by a farm walk to see grazing method opportunities.
Clarbeston Grange Farm comprises of 126 hectares and manages a spring calving herd of 240 dairy cows. The farm objectives are to maximise use of grass and control costs.
Target yields are 4,500 litres/cow from less than 300 kg/concentrates/cow. The farm employs two full-time workers, including a herdsman and general farm worker.
