Once again, the St. David's Day Daffodil Festival at St. Johns Church, Tenby, turned out to be a spectacular success.

Many hundreds of people came, from all over Pembrokeshire and holidaymakers from all over the world, to see the flower displays and artefacts depicting 'Wales: Land of Song', and to enjoy the associated activities.

The children's service on Thursday, February 28, was a delightful opening activity and the Cymanfa Ganu on St. David's Day saw a full church singing all the best-loved Welsh hymn tunes.

Tenby Male Choir gave two special renderings: 'Arglwydd mae y Nosi' and 'Pan fo'r Nos yn hir', which were beautifully sung, and the choir's support for the hymn singing was invaluable.

The Cymrodorion Ladies Choir, introduced by Mrs. Trevena Vincent, sang 'Dafydd y Garreg Wen' and 'Ffarwel i'r gwynt a eira', which Mrs. Pat Stubbs accompanied.

The rest of the Cymanfa Ganu was made up of congregational hymn singing. Conducted by Mr. Graham Stubbs and accompanied by Dr. John Harrison, the atmosphere was uplifting and inspiring.

Coffee and Welsh cakes proved very popular on Thursday and Saturday mornings and the Sunday Celtic-style service was followed by a very happy faith lunch, to which many visitors to the service were made welcome.

Mrs. Ann Maggs, co-ordinator and inspiration of the whole event, together with her committee, wish to thank everyone in Tenby and beyond, who contributed in whatever way to making the festival such a success. It would be impossible to name everyone who contributed to the work of the festival, because so many talented people helped, but Ann wishes to acknowledge her helpers and to forward to them, on behalf of herself and her committee, and indeed the minister, elders and members of St. Johns Church, grateful, heart-felt thanks.
