Tenby Town Council has received a letter of thanks from a D-Day veteran who was evacuated to the town during World War II.

Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, the town clerk, Andrew Davies, and the Mayor, Clr. Laurence Blackhall, told their colleagues that they had received correspondence from 98t-year-old Ray Jago, of Liskeard in Cornwall, who had been evacuated from Dunkirk to Tenby, and taken in by locals who gave him bed and rest.

“He has written a lovely and belated sincere thank you to the town,” said Clr. Blackhall, who said that they would write back to Mr. Jago thanking him for the letter.
