Eighteen cyclists are saddling up for the Pembrokeshire Peloton Charity Cycle Ride which begins on Tuesday morning. Starting at Pembroke Dock police station at 7.30 am, the cyclists will be peddling through Tenby, Carmarthen, Llanelli, Ammanford, Ystradgynlais and Brecon, on the first day of their four-day challenge. The cyclists are police officers, support staff, and two representatives from Tenby Round Table, who will be cycling around the Dyfed Powys Police Force area to raise money for a number of charities which have been nominated by serving police officers or their spouses. Set to benefit from the charity ride are Withybush Hospital's Ward 10 and Chemotherapy Day Unit, the Pembrokeshire Sibling Group, which assists the brothers and sisters of disabled children, and the Association for Spina Bifida ad Hydrocephalus. The cyclists will continue north via Newtown and Welshpool on the second day and travel back towards the county on the third day, having visited each of the main police stations in the force area, covering a distance of approximately 350-miles. On the last leg of the journey, next Friday, the team will be met by a further 130-plus cyclists at Haverfordwest police station at 2 pm. The 150-plus peloton will then be leaving Haverfordwest under police escort at 2.30 pm. Cycling via Johnston, they will turn left at the Horse and Jockey Pub, before continuing to Sentry Cross roundabout and on to the finishing point at the Cleddau Bridge Hotel, Pembroke Dock.
