A sponsored bike ride and fun afternoon has raised the magnificent total of £2500 for the Aimee Williams Trust Fund.

Aimee is a bright, bubbly 11-year-old pupil at Ysgol Gyfun Dyffryn Taf, who is very ill with kidney failure. Her illness means that she, along with her mum, dad and sister Charlotte, have to travel to Cardiff and Bristol for treatment, very often as an emergency with no forewarning.

The trust fund has been set up to help towards the cost of all of this travelling as well as to give Aimee a good quality of life which is as 'normal' as possible.

Nearly 30 riders set off from the Rugby Club in Narberth to cycle the 11 miles to Lawrenny. Many of them also cycled back! The riders aged in range from 10 to 50 and all did very well to complete the course! After their return to Narberth, the younger children undertook a shorter course twice around Narberth's one way system, led by the Fire Engine and Dylan the Dragon.

In the afternoon, a children's disco was held at the Rugby Club by kind permission of Eddy and Sandy Mutch.

Mr. Peter Adams kindly gave up his afternoon to do the disco, and Andrew the Postman and staff helped out with Dylan the Dragon and party games.

Cerri and staff from Snips in Narberth, gelled, waxed and extended hair, and there was also face painting and nail art to keep everyone happy!

Thanks go to all of those who gave up their time on the day, either by riding bikes, being safety stewards, helping with the disco, face painting etc, as well as everyone who turned out to support.

Thanks also to all of the local businesses and individuals who donated raffle prizes, these were: Bargain Box; Christine Morris; Wisebuys; Spar; Jelly egg; Gallery; Liz's Bakery; Dickmans; Granny's Attic; Pet shop; Whites; Fabric House; Chemists; Andrew Rees; Alyson Unsworth; Dragon House; Costcutter; Haulfryn; Nobles; Williams Vision; Calico Loom; Val and Gordon and Grace Hart. Thanks also to the expert barbecuers, Graham, Nigel and Laura who cooked for everyone after riding almost 20 miles!
