Not wanting to look mugs at the end of the year, Narberth town councillors have reduced the price of their commemorative millennium gifts.

In a bid to ensure the council are not left with a surplus stock of the Narberth mugs, they are now retailing at £4.95 each instead of the original price of £5.95.

To celebrate the year 2000, councillors agreed to commission the mugs as gifts for the children in the town. In addition, extra mugs were ordered for visitors and residents to purchase.

However, sales have been rather slow, but thanks to the efforts of several councillors over the summer months, a large number of the mugs have been sold at various events.

There are approximately 200 currently left in stock and a number of the youngsters who are entitled to the gift are still to collect their mugs from Williams Vision.

"Full marks all round. With the food festival this weekend and Christmas, we should clear them all," commented Clr. Wynne Evans.

Added Clr. Colin Williams: "Seeing the quality of gifts being given by other communities, I think we have every reason to crow about the quality of our mugs."
