Preparations are well underway at Dyffryn Taf School, Whitland, for the annual Sixth Form Christmas production.

'My Fair Lady' is this year's show. It opens on Monday and runs until next Friday. All performances start at 7 pm.

This has become an annual event at the school, which is appreciated by large audiences of pupils, parents and members of the local community.

Both staff and students have been working hard over past weeks with regular rehearsals for those involved on stage and also in the choir and orchestra.

Others have been involved in creating the set and the numerous props needed, as well as the costumes and backstage preparations.

The main parts of Eliza Doolitle and Professor Higgins will be played by Katy Bartlett and Matt Pickup.

The supporting cast from the Sixth Form are determined to make this year's show the best performance ever.

But, of course, no musical would be successful without the chorus, and head of music, Mrs. Young, and her team from the Lower School have been rehearsing hard to provide a musical backing worthy of this wonderful show.

Director, Mr. Hughes believes that the performance will be memorable.

"This is one of the most famous musicals of all time and will be very challenging for the two main roles in particular," he said.

"However, I have every faith in their ability to communicate this magical story. The whole team has worked hard and I am very fortunate to be able to have the support of so many people and to work with such dedicated pupils."

Added Katy Bartlett, who plays Eliza: "The rehearsal schedule has been tough and hectic, but immensely rewarding."

The marketing team have been contacting local businesses to try and raise the sponsorship money that is vital to the success of the production.

They have been very pleased with the response and would like to thank those who have already pledged their support to the production.

Dyffryn Taf hopes that local people will take the opportunity to go and see the end result of all their hard work.

Tickets for the show are currently on sale at the school at a cost of £5 for adults and £4 for children and OAPs. To book telephone 01994 242100.
