Sunday's Alan Brown Cup final at Whitland was abandoned because of heavy rain when Crymych were 41 for 2 after seven overs of their second innings and the match was "interestingly poised," to quote Crymych skipper Dai Deardon.

Cup holders Crymych reached 153 for 4 in their first innings of 20 overs against arch promotion rivals from Division Three, Pembroke Dock.

Elgan Vittle had an elegant innings of 59 not out, supported by Bevis Stanford with 36 and Rhydian Wyn with 23.

In reply, the Dock scored 152 for 5. Teenager David Dunfee top scored with 50, followed by Julian Edwards with 40.

With a narrow first innings lead of just one run, Elgan Vittle went for the runs again and was 26 not out when the downpour came.

The final will be replayed this Sunday at Whitland Cricket Club. Wickets will be pitched at 1 pm.
