Sir,

I was interested to read in your 'Straws in the Wind' of perhaps a revival of the Welsh crwth.

In the late '50s or '60s, my uncle, Hanmer Griffith, living at Skenfrith at the time, made a beautiful replica of a Welsh crwth. He had previously, along with my father, enjoyed a hobby of violin-making.

The crwth, now in Monmouth Museum, was the only one made by my uncle and was carefully remodelled from data collected from London Museum.

I hope this letter is of interest to the Welsh Fiddle Festival, Stackpole. They may like to view this instrument.
