Crime in our area has fallen during the last 12 months. Dyfed Powys Police have released their annual crime statistics for period from April 2006 to March of this year. In that time, there were 7,696 incidents of violence against a person, which has fallen 0.19 per cent compared to the same period last year There were 403 sexual offences (down 8.41 per cent compared to the same period the previous year), 8,146 violent crimes (down 0.55 per cent compared to the year before) and 2,232 burglaries (down 0.36 per cent) . The total of all offences was 30,037 (down 0.49 per cent). However, there has been a slight increase in the total crimes reported during January - March this year. There were 1,600 violence against the person incidents which had fallen five per cent compared to same period last year, and 81 sexual offences (down 17 per cent compared to the previous year), while the total number of violent crimes was 1,689 (down six per cent). There was an increase in the number of burglaries, however. There had been 553, three per cent up on the previous year. This also resulted in a one per cent increase in the total of all crime, which was 6,922.
