Residents of a south Pembrokeshire village have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of ET this week to repair their broken telephone line!
Over 40 homes in Cresswell Quay have been without their landlines since the main telephone cable was severed on January 19 when a vehicle carrying a high load brought down two poles and the overhead cable.
Telephone engineers were seen at the scene within hours and placed the broken cable at opposite sides of the road.
But there was no further action, which baffled residents and led to them considering asking all military establishments in the UK to be on the look-out for signs that ET is approaching!
With modern technology, one would expect the villagers to be able to maintain their link with the rest of the world via mobile 'phones, but unfortunately the service is very limited in the Cresswell Quay area.
Villagers say they have felt isolated and totally let down by British Telecom's failure to restore a basic service to their village.
When contacted by the Observer earlier this week a spokesman for BT explained that engineers were due to start work on Monday and it was hoped that the service would be restored on Wednesday.
"We would like to apologise for the delay, but it has been a big job and not as straightforward as usual," he said.
