A joint-venture consortium led by a Cardiff-based property company have bought Whitland's creamery site. The 18 acres of land will be developed for industrial, community and residential purposes. Formerly owned by Dairy Crest, the site has been sold to the consortium, which is headed by Dovey Estates and comprises of Budd Property Investments, of Cardiff, and Ben Evans and Son, of St. Clears, who will occupy a warehouse and headquarters complex on the site. Carmarthenshire County Council and the Welsh Development Agency had hoped to purchase the land and had drawn up a masterplan following public consultation, but no agreement was ever reached. They now hope to work alongside the developers.
