Recently, a group of ladies attended a coffee morning and craft display at Hebron Baptist Church, Saundersfoot. Many people have supported the aid programme for Ukraine and Rwanda. As well as donating aid clothing, blankets, curtains and other items, ladies from the church, members of the Oasis Lunch Fellowship and others in the community have been knitting squares for blankets, jumpers and hats.

People who had given so generously of their time and talents were invited as a 'thank you' and to view many of the beautiful items that have been made and soon to be sent overseas.

Directors of Ukraine Christian Ministries attended the event. Mrs. Hendy spoke about the support offered to families, the age and people with all kinds of special needs and disabilities. Though many of the people have so little, they willingly share what they have with others in their community. An elderly couple did not hesitate to care for three orphaned boys giving them a very poor, but loving home. UCM, through the community, have been able to give assistance to people in great need. John and Janet Hendy were able to show photographs illustrating the projects and the spartan life in Ukraine.

Although many of the ladies have given so much already and many hours of their time, most were moved to further support the work. Donations totalling £110 were gratefully received.

A total of 120 handmade blankets have been sent overseas. Other Baptist churches and friends have also contributed. Around 7,000 squares have been knitted since the project began in May 2005.

A number of the ladies were interested in forming a coffee and craft group in the new year. If anyone is interested to know more about this project and the craft group, please contact Janet Standing on 811697.
