Carew Youth Club finished the year with a bang!

As their last meeting was Friday, December 23, what better way to close for the year than with a Christmas party.

We had nearly 30 children turn up (young and old - and yes, I am counting John Brock in that, who is just a little over 80!).

In true typical Carew style, the table was laden with the most amazing assortment of food. Janet and Georgia pulled out all the stops, making some very festive sweet treats - snowmen biscuits, Santa hat cup cakes and Christmas pudding lollipop cakes - they looked fabulous, too good to eat, well almost... we had a good go at them!

Ollie and James also put their 'Santa' thinking caps on and came up with loads of festive games for everyone to play. There were crackers, party hats, Christmas music and some very dodgy singing to accompany it! Everyone had a great night.

John closed the evening with a chat about what Christmas is really all about and why we celebrate it; he also reminded everyone about the importance of warm friendship and how valuable it is. Thanks to everyone who put the time in to make this a special evening, especially at such a busy time of the year.

Just a reminder for January - the panto trip is Saturday, January 14, so all money owing must now be paid; our thanks to Gwen for collecting the money as it is certainly a difficult task with 100 tickets booked. Also, as you know, we have asked if those who are able to, could contribute a small sum towards the cost of the buses; it would be useful if you could bring any donations along to club on Friday, January 13.

Our thanks to all those who continue to support our club, as without our volunteers and the members who turn up every week, there would be no club. Special thanks to John, who has dedicated so much of his life to the club, nearly 50 years - so best wishes for 2012 and here's to another full year of events and activities.
