A man discovered by police sitting in the passenger seat of a car parked in Tenby with a bag of cannabis between his legs has been fined in court.
Twenty-eight-year-old David Jack Hughes, of Bargoed, admitted possessing 1.3 grams of cannabis, when he appeared at Haverfordwest magistrates court on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told the court that at 11.45 pm, on July 23, police officers on routine foot patrol in the resort, saw the defendant sat in the passenger seat of a car parked on the Esplanade, and could smell cannabis coming from the vehicle.
“Mr. Hughes had a plastic bag between his legs containing cannabis, and accepted that it was his for his own personal use. He told officers that he’d paid £15 for it and had smoked some of it already,” he explained.
Magistrates fined the defendant £200 for the offence and ordered him to pay costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
