A SAUNDERSFOOT woman who was caught driving three times after being banned has narrowly avoided jail.

Alena Harries, of 46 Vineyard Vale, Wooden, appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on 25 April.

The court heard that the 37-year-old, who had been banned from driving earlier this year, was caught driving while disqualified three times in a week.

Harries pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified in an Audi A3 on Vineyard Vale, Saundersfoot on 27 February, 1 March, and 2 March this year.

She also admitted three charges of driving without insurance on the same dates.

Magistrates further disqualified her for 27 months and handed her an eight week jail term, suspended for 12 months. Magistrates said the offences were “so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified” because she was found “driving whilst disqualified multiple times shortly after ban.”

The sentence was suspended because there was a “realistic prospect of rehabilitation” and that there was “good work being done with probation.”

Harries must also pay £85 costs.
