A Pembroke man has been fined in court after pleading guilty to possessing cannabis.
Twenty-two-year-old Daniel John Purser, of Vetch Close, admitted possessing 1.4 grams of the drug, when he appeared at Haverfordwest magistrates court on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told the court that police officers conducting house to house enquiries in the area regarding an unrelated matter, knocked on the defendant’s door at 11.55 pm, on Monday, June 20.
“Officers could smell cannabis coming from the property and Mr. Purser admitted he had some, before handing them cling film containing the drug.
“They arranged for the defendant to attend the police station for a voluntary interview, and he made a full admission that he’d bought the cannabis for £20,” explained Mr. Pritchard-Jones.
The defendant told magistrates that he had been “stupid” in purchasing the cannabis and that at the time he had been offered a new job and was trying to sort his life out.
Magistrates fined Mr. Purser £135 for the offence and ordered him to pay costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
