A Manorbier man who had ‘one too many’ before being caught by police drink-driving has been disqualified for over a year.

Twenty-four-year-old David Michael Frazer, of Manorbier Newton, pleaded guilty to driving his Suzuki Vitara whilst over the limit, when he appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Prosecutor Ellie Morgan told the court that at around 2.45 am on April 17, police officers on duty on Quay Street in Haverfordwest noticed Mr. Frazer walking unsteady on his feet and getting into his vehicle.

“A couple joined the defendant in his vehicle before they all got out and walked by the police officers.

“Officers drove off but could see the defendant looking back over his shoulder at them.

“They parked up and around 15 minutes later Mr. Frazer came past in his vehicle,” continued Ms Morgan.

A roadside test proved positive and the defendant was arrested and taken to the police station where a further test showed that he had 87 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Defence solicitor Matthew Greenish told the court that Mr. Frazer had driven to meet up with friends in Haverfordwest with the intention of not drinking.

“Unfortunately he had one too many, and made a silly decision on the night.

“He lives with his parents in Manorbier, but works in the Narberth area,” he explained.

Magistrates disqualified Mr. Frazer from driving for 22 months and fined him £240 for the offence.

He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
