A NEW DVD/video, the Islands of Pembrokeshire, has just been been released by Springfield Productions. The company was set up by Swansea-based Mike Edmunds in 1993, and over 20 different documentary VHS videos have been released. In 1994 'The Islands Of Pembrokeshire' became an instant best seller, and sold out many years ago. This year, he decided that all future titles would be available on DVD, as well as VHS. This new release is the first. It has been completely re-filmed over the past three years, and is almost double the length of the earlier release. Only a few short sections of footage have been seen before. In addition, every effort has been made to capture as much of the varied wildlife as possible, with modern slow motion techniques frequently used. This is most noticeable on the close-ups of Skomer's puffins and a pod of dolphins. The video is narrated by Pembroke's Rob James, who has provided the commentary to five previous Springfield Productions titles, including 'Round The Pembrokeshire Coast', which will be updated for DVD next year. As well as capturing on film the glories of Pembrokeshire's islands by sea and land, cameraman Mike Edmunds hired a plane from Withybush Airport to give his viewers spectacular views of the islands from the air. Included in the footage is film of Tenby's St Catherine's Island and Caldey Island. The DVD/VHS video is sponsored by Thousand Islands Expeditions, St. Davids, and Coastal and Island Cruises, Tenby. Copies are available from retailers throughout the area, including Tenby Bookshop; Victoria Bookshop, Haverfordwest; Haven Bookshop, Pembroke; Siop DJ, Fishguard and Awen Teifi, Cardigan.
