A BLACK and white landscape photography book of Pembrokeshire has been voted the county's favourite book.

'Pembrokeshire' by photographer David Wilson won the prestigious 'Pembrokeshire's Favourite Book' award at the first Penfro Book Festival held recently at Rhosygilwen.

More than 60 reading groups across the county were invited to vote for their favourite book, as well as readers of Pembrokeshire Life, and visitors to the Penfro Book Festival. The competition was kindly organised by Gill Gilliland, of Pembrokeshire County Libraries.

"I was delighted to win this award, it's reassuring to know that people are enjoying my book," said David.

Brian John, festival organiser and well-known author, said: "I'm delighted that David has won this award.  Non-fiction books do not always get the recognition they deserve, and it's encouraging that book lovers in Pembrokeshire have registered their approval for a beautiful and carefully crafted book which captures the spirit of their county perfectly."

'Pembrokeshire' contains 50 black and white landscape photographs of the county, each accompanied by the story behind the image also written by David. It was published by Graffeg in 2009.

It has been a busy year for David, who has just finished work on his second publication, a landscape photography book of Wales.

"I've really enjoyed the past year journeying around Wales and I just hope this next book is as popular and well received as 'Pembrokeshire' has been," he said.

With a foreword by Griff Rhys Jones, David's new book of Wales will be published by Graffeg in March 2012.
