Pembrokeshire County Council will host the National Road Safety Awards 2005 later this year. Sponsored by Chevron Texaco, the awards are co- ordinated by Road Safety Wales and the Welsh Assembly Government. Road Safety Wales is a national working committee made up from road safety officers and others from all 22 local authorities as well as businesses in Wales. It aims to reduce road traffic casualties of all types across the country, through publicity, training and education The awards will be held at the Cleddau Bridge Hotel in November. Nominations will be put forward from across Wales for six different road safety categories - Road Safety in Primary Schools, Road Safety in Secondary Schools, Road Safety in the Community, School Crossing Patrols as well as individual and commercial awards. Steve Baker, RoSPA agent for Wales and executive officer for Road Safety Wales, recently received a cheque from Phil Thompson, of Chevron Texaco, towards this year's event. The company has sponsored the awards for the last four years. Clr. Brian Hall, deputy chairman of Road Safety Wales, said: "Pembrokeshire is very happy to host this annual road safety awards and will make delegates very welcome."
