One of the most important swimming competitions for Pembrokeshire County Swimming - the Welsh Age Group Championships 2010 - took place recently at the National Pool (50m) in Swansea.
A total of 24 swimmers from Haverfordwest Seals, Pembroke and District, Tenby Dolphins, Fishguard Flyers and Milford Haven Tigers swam together as Pembrokeshire County Swimming.
The swimmers achieved 96 personal bests from 180 swims, including 36 finals from 15 swimmers, and 22 medals from five swimmers and all the relay teams. They achieved eight gold awards, eight silver awards, and six bronze awards.
Three swimmers also achieved both British National Times and Welsh Regional times (Kelsey Williams, Carys Thomas, and Isabelle Davies).
Paul Dowey, swimming development coach, said the Welsh Age Group Championships represent the best swimmers in Wales.
"Our early success is great," he said. "However, there is a long road ahead and our Pembrokeshire swimmers need to remain focused on our long term goals."
He added: "There were many other good swims from other squad members which should not go unrecognised, with some swimmers competing out of age."
This year's championships were an improvement on last year which saw the squad take 14 medals from four swimmers and one boys' relay teams, (two gold, one silver and 11 bronze) and 30 finals from 12 swimmers.
