Work is expected to start on three key regeneration projects in the next financial year, councillors have been told.
An update on regeneration work in Pembrokeshire was given to members of the services overview and scrutiny committee on Tuesday (January 28) by the cabinet member responsible Clr. Paul Miller.
He said the focus was an “ambitious programme to get this area back in the game of supporting economic regeneration in the county.”
“I don’t want Pembrokeshire to be a sleepy little back water where nothing happens, I want it to be an innovative and dynamic place,” added Clr. Miller.
Significant progress had been made in the last ten months he told the committee and improved collective links had been made with Welsh Government.
He expected work to start on site at South Quay, Pembroke and in Haverfordwest, at the former Ocky White building and riverside corridor as well as the planned food park, in the next financial year.
The newly appointed head of economic development and regeneration, Rachel Moxey, will also take up her post in April.
Improvements would continue on the broadband network councillors were told with decisions on a bid for funding from council and via the Swansea Bay City Deal due soon.
A further report on progress will be made in six months.
