TWO Pembrokeshire-based projects and a Haverfordwest man are up for national awards for their contribution towards improving the lives of local older people.

Pembrokeshire's Carers Support Service has been shortlisted for the Age Cymru Local Delivery Award.

Pencoed Care Home in Saundersfoot is a contender for the My Home Life Cymru Award.

Alan Buckfield from Haverfordwest has been put forward for the Age Cymru Volunteer Award, which is sponsored by Wales and West Utilities.

Age Cymru presents its awards each year to groups or people who have a made an outstanding contribution to older people's lives.

Commenting on the nominations, Age Cymru's chief executive Ian Thomas said: "The purpose of the Age Cymru Awards is to celebrate and recognise the outstanding contributions that groups and individuals make towards improving the lives of older people across Wales.

"We've had nominations from around the country for this year's awards and the standard has been very high.

"I'd like to congratulate Carers Support Service, Pencoed Care Home and Alan Buckfield on their nominations and wish them the best of luck."

Age Cymru will be announcing the winners of the Age Cymru Awards at its Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony at the Cardiff Hilton on Friday, February 27.
