Last Sunday, the South Pembs County side started the 2009 season with a narrow win over the Vale of Glamorgan.

Still in Division Four, due to some teams in higher leagues dropping out, they started the match a bit slow, losing the first session by 6-3, but made it all square in the second with a 6-3 win. It was the third session which proved the most valuable, winning it by 7-2, while after going 3-2 up in the last session, they took their foot off the pedal a bit, losing 6-3, but a 19-17 win saw them take the points.

Well done to the following players who emerged undefeated on the day, winning three out of three matches - Simon Beynon, Phil Lewis and Wayne Morris. Simon was awarded player of the match.

Many thanks to the staff of the Alpha Inn, the new home venue, and thanks to Euros and Yvette for sponsoring the food.

Next month's match sees the long journey to Cardiff (Cavaliers), who drew with St. Clears last week, while the match between Caldicot and Cardigan was cancelled.
