Last week's article about three Pembrokeshire cricketers Alun Evans, Ian Capon and Philip Thomas being at Lord's has attracted considerable interest. Ian Capon played in that match at Lord's for Wales against the MCC, but he had been to Lord's on two previous occasions for the Welsh team to play the MCC, but on both occasions the matches were rained off. It was a case of third time lucky for the former Neyland bowler, who has been having a good season with Gowerton. He has taken two hat-tricks this season, once in a league match against Neath and once in a cup match against Aberystwyth. Two former Pembrokeshire favourites, Michael Hayden and Wayne Harries, have both played in the Village Cup final at Lord's for Ynystawe and Gowerton, respectively. Another former Pembrokeshire cricketer, Huw Hughes, who played senior cricket for Marloes and Johnston and youth cricket for Llangwm, has appeared at Lord's twice. The fist time it was for the Cross Arrows on the Nursery ground and the second time it was for the MCC against Denmark in the '80s. Observer Sport was interested to receive telephone calls about the above mentioned Pembrokeshire cricketers and it would be interesting to know if readers can recall the names of other Pembrokeshire cricketers who have played at the home of cricket.
